LMD 2 Community Engagement and Education GIS/Special Districts Division The GIS/Special Districts Division falls under the Administrative Services Department. This division manages and prepares the City's tax roll database as well as its GIS maps and data. Geographic Information Systems (GIS) The City's dedicated GIS Division serves all of the GIS and mapping needs of the City's various departments including the City Manager's Office, Administrative Services, Animal Services, Building and Safety, City Clerk's Office, Community Services, Engineering and Public Works, Fire Protection District, Library Services, Planning, Police Department, and Redevelopment Agency, and any requests from residents and other local municipal agencies. The Division is responsible for mapping the City's property parcel lines and street centerlines, mapping general plan and zoning ordinances, mapping for public safety including Fire and Police, and mapping other various City assets, facilities, and boundaries including special district assessment boundaries. The Division was honored at the 30th Annual ESRI User Conference, the world's largest GIS event, as one of the winners of the Special Achievement in GIS Award 2010 (SAG) . Special Districts The Division is responsible for placing property parcels to the County tax rolls, tracking and paying debt service on the City's bonded indebtedness and assisting with special district formations. There are thirty-eight special assessment districts in the City: eight Street Lighting Districts, eleven Landscape Maintenance Districts, two Assessment Districts, fifteen Community Facilities Districts, one Benefit Assessment District, and one Park and Recreation District. The application also has an interactive Advanced Map that contains advanced GIS functionality and tools that allow users to display layers of data and retrieve information for each layer of data available.
