SAN BERNARDINO: Teachers of the Year to be honored

This years County Teachers of the Year are Diane Bonjour, an eighth-grade science teacher at Serrano Middle School in the San Bernardino City Unified School District, Michelle Caroccia, a fifth-grade teacher at Dona Merced Elementary School in the Central School District in Rancho Cucamonga Attorney Cucamonga and Ben Cavanaugh, an 11th- and 12th-grade history and government teacher at Rancho Cucamonga Attorney Cucamonga High School in the Chaffey browse Joint Union High School District. The three teachers were nominated by their individual districts and reviewed by a panel of county administrators who made the final selections. This years award recipients will compete in the California Teacher of the Year event, which will announce its recipients in the fall. Bonjour has 17 years of teaching experience, which includes the last three years in her present position at Serrano Middle School in San Bernardino. Diane Bonjour is a teacher that is in an elite group of leaders that you can build a successful school around, wrote Serrano Principal Arwyn Wild in the nomination for Bonjour. Finding a way to help her students learn is what drives Bonjour in her daily work in the classroom.
